Mastering Mosaic

It is said that the peacock is a symbol of immortality, as they guard the Gates of Paradise and welcome all who enter. Above the custom mosaic steps on each side of this Siesta Key’s estate entryway, sit a pair of custom designed mosaic tiled peacocks welcoming guests to this piece of paradise.

A domestic and international design award winner, this home is all about the stone, tile and glass details with custom mosaics elevating this modern luxury with Old World charm. Inside, the kitchen ceiling was lifted, barreled and embellished with custom mosaic tiles and beams and glistens with an almost copper-like glow.

Designed by the owner as a replica of an old European castle, the estate’s sunroom was an addition with three hand-carved, Bulgarian-gold-marble archways transitioning between the new room and the rest of the house. The room’s medieval theme is a trip back in time with extensive mastery of stone complemented by faux paintings and special lighting. The ceiling is adorned with 3-by-3-foot panels of marble mosaic, custom created and inspired by Renaissance art. The columns, television doors and limestone fireplace all feature imported custom mosaics.

All of the exterior mosaic featured tiles were imported from Bulgaria and were hand-laid by a Bulgarian craftsman. The pool, spa and lower relaxing pool boast brilliant hues of blue glass mosaic lending to an exquisite play of light on the water. The blues of the lower relaxing pool’s mosaic are complemented by yellow and green speckled mosaic fish, and an antique mosaic wall plaque adorns the upper terrace fountain.

The owners of this estate created a paradise adorned in details of stone, tile and glass, with artistry and craftsmanship unparalleled by anyone’s standards. For more information on this mosaic masterpiece click here.
